My Dad gave us his old lap top. It has a card connected to it that should pick up our house modem but it keeps dropping the connection. Help!

Hi, can you explain me which internet connection you have in your house ?

Wireless or LAN ? Because i never heard for card connection.. or you maybe want to say that you have Modem connected to DSL or some other connection ?

Please give me more information.
