hard drive split?

i have a hard drive which is split 40gb on c drive and then 460gb on D drive , the problem i have is that the c drive is now full and loads of capacity on D drive but when i try to download for instance music on spotify it now says that no capacity left to download onto, why is this happening and how do i resolve this , i am not very good at geek stuff so please be simple in explaining thankyou
