hi , I've never had this problem before , but now I recently installed Civilization V on my laptop and it keeps shutting down my laptop , without a warning or anything , sometimes it's when I'm playing 5 minutes , but sometimes it only shuts down after playing an hour.
can anyone tell me what might be the problem ?

btw I have an Nvidia GeForce 130m
processor is Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6400 @ 2.00Ghz 2.00Ghz
Ram 4,00 Gb
Acer Aspire 7738

Hello,

Sorry that noone responded. Ok few questions. Do you get a Bluescreen or it just shuts down ? Or it just turn off like you do a Hard shut down. Anyways follow this article and upload the logs here http://jcgriff2.com/BSODpostinstructions.html i'll take and look and see what is happening.

well it just shuts down , just like when you hold the power button for a few seconds , I get no blue screen or anything.

OK .... Before you start playing open Speedfan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) and check the Temps. I think it should be Over Heat causing the Machine to shutdown. Post the result here.

ok installed the program and a few moments before it's shutting down it said
CPU : 81
core 0 : 71
core 1 : 70

I checked the temperature every 2 minutes and this was the last one I saw right before it shutted down.

Man .. That's hot .. No wonder it's shutting down. Did you service your laptop in a while ? Like dusting it inside ? If not take it to a PC repair store and dust it inside. Look for a Cooling Pad Cooling Pad searches

oh really ? :p well I have a cooling pad ( one like this http://www.slipperybrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/01/belkin-laptop-cooling-stand.jpg )
but it keeps shutting down , I cleaned that fan with a vacuum cleaner but it doesn't work , would it work if I opened the laptop and cleaned it out ?

btw , what's the maximum heat allowed?

I believe it should be around 45 to 60 on CPU Temps.

well it's still the same , after a while it heats up to 75-80 and then eventually shuts down.
I'm thinking about buying a pc instead of a laptop to play games on.
really don't see what could be the problem, any thoughts?

Na.. It's easy .. You going to run RAM and hard drive diagnostic ... For RAM you would download MemTest86+ ISO Image and burn it to a disk and run the diagnostic up to 7 passes.
