Hello.

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Please make sure Teatimer is disable before we do this, otherwise this fix will fail.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O1 - Hosts: ::1 localhost
    O1 - Hosts: 91.212.127.227 winwarepro.microsoft.com
    O1 - Hosts: 91.212.127.227 winwarepro.com

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [qffgtrtm] C:\Documents and Settings\Billy\Local Settings\Application Data\qwuwxl\syjqsysguard.exe

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

The icon for the Antivirus System Pro is gone and popups are gone- but still strange things are happening. For example pretty much any link I click on from a google search results in some bogus webpage that I was not looking for. Here is the log from MBAM:

Hello.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
    Link 1
    Link 2
  • Double click DDS.scr to run.
  • When complete, two logs will open. Save both of the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste BOTH LOGS back here, use more than one post if needed.

Hi- I cannot open dds from either location. I downloaded it from link 1 but when I double click it opens a notepad file of symbols. What should I do?

Please download exeHelper from one of the two links.
Link 1
Link 2

  • Double-click on exeHelper.com or exeHelper.scr to run the fix.
  • A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
  • Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

No, the same thing is happening. zit seems to take a second longer than before to open, but then it just opens in notepad. One thing I should mention though: when I am prompted to save the file, my cpu recognizes it as ACAD script, i tried to save it as all files and as ACAD script both with the same notepad results. I'm wondering if maybe I need to change some setting for opening files because I have Autodesk on my system?

Rename DDS and remove the scr, add exe instead, see if it runs now.

Hello.

I see that you are running Limewire.
P2P(Peer to peer) applications are designed to help you easily share and distribute files between you and a group of people. But they can also be used to distribute malware, and thus are not considered safe.
The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

    Java(TM) 6 Update 15
    LimeWire 5.2.13
    Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only)
    Viewpoint Media Player

Please download Firefox 3.5.5 and install it. It will install over version 3.0 you currently have installed, so you won't lose any bookmarked websites.

How is the machine running now?

Everything seems to be running smoothly. You guys are the best. Although I have been telling just about everyone I know how helpful you are I kind of want to keep it a secret so I can get this amazing service in the future! Keep up the good work, you really are great.

Okay, as it turns out the machine is not completely cured. Although it is happening less frequently, when I am clicking on some google links they get intercepted and I am sent to some random site I was not looking for. The only way I have found to get around this is by copying and pasting the address into the address bar. Again, it's only happening SOME of the time now as opposed to MOST almost ALL of the time before.

Please download GooredFix from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2

  • Ensure all Firefox windows are closed.
  • To run the tool, double-click it (XP), or right-click and select Run As Administrator (Vista).
  • When prompted to run the scan, click Yes.
  • GooredFix will check for infections, and then a log will appear. Please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called GooredFix.txt).

Nope, not that.

Hello.

  • Download combofix from here
    Link 1
    Link 2

    1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

    * Tools->Options->Main tab
    * Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

    2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

Antivirus SystemPro (sorry for posting on yours kevzen!) CF_download_FF

Antivirus SystemPro (sorry for posting on yours kevzen!) CF_download_rename

    3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
    4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
    5. Close any open browsers.
    6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • See HERE for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

Antivirus SystemPro (sorry for posting on yours kevzen!) Cf410

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

Antivirus SystemPro (sorry for posting on yours kevzen!) Cf510

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.
