Hello, first time user here. I once had this spyware before (was called something defender though), but I was able to get rid of it using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I tried using it again, but it won't open. I looked in it's folder, and it seems the .exe file is gone. I tried downloading/installing again, but it still won't open; not even the updater file. I deleted the Personal Guard files in the C: and restarted, but I'm still getting pop-ups and sluggish performance. Please tell me what to do. I've already taken the liberty of installing the java thing and hijackthis. Here's the log of the scan:

Hello, and thank you for responding. I've done as you requested. There was a few minor differences in what you said to check, though it probably makes little difference (the 04HKLM....yaromido.dll was called higudivo.dll). I downloaded Malwarebytes from the link posted, and the program still won't open up after installing it, so I was unable to post a MBAM Log. I await further instructions.

1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

* Tools->Options->Main tab
* Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

2. During the download, rename Combofix to svchost as follows:

Infected with Personal Guard 2009 CF_download_FF

Infected with Personal Guard 2009 2aflf5z

3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
5. Close any open browsers.
6. We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.

  • See HERE for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on svchost.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouse click combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

After a day, I seem to be pop-up free now, and no stupid errors upon starting my computer; though my computer's running a little slow still, but that could just be it getting old. GeekPolice.net, thank you so much for helping me through this. A donation is definitely in order, and if we ever cross paths; drinks are on me. Thanks again.

Hello.
We aren't done yet.

Please download the OTMoveIt by OldTimer.

  • Save it to your desktop.

  • Copy the bolded text below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :files

    c:\windows\system32\febuwigi.dll
    c:\windows\system32\guzuyavu.exe
    c:\windows\system32\mofewobi.dll

    :reg
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\security center]
    "AntiVirusOverride"=-

  • Return to OTMoveIt, right click in the "Paste instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please post the OTMoveIt log.

My machine is back to its usual self again, thanks to you guys. I can't thank you enough. By the way, was there any other spyware/malware/etc. you found besides Personal Guard 2009 in those logs?

Yes, but it was vundo, an adware infection that dies quite easily to our tools.

i am also having a problem with os guard pro 2009. it refuses to let anything execute. I can't get to my internet. I read previous users comments. I went to safe mode networking and tried to run AVG, Malware, and SPYbot from my CD. Installed all on my machine. They all ran for a few minutes and then stopped for one reason or another. anything else you can recommend
