I noticed AlphaAV file but waited to hear back from you before I did anything else.

BTW I updated Java, Adobe & made sure i had all the latest Windows updates per site instructions

• Open HijackThis
  
• Choose "Do a system scan only"
  
• Check the boxes in front of these lines:

• Press "Fix Checked"
  
• Close Hijack This.
  

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

thanks for the help! looks like that crap is gone. However, one more question-when I download HiJackThis, i cant find it on my drive. My computer prompts that it must have been launched from a temp folder. I see the icon on my control panel on the "add/remove "programs and when I click on it it says it must have been previously uninstalled. I can find the notepad log file, but not the program file.

Hi, some time ago a program called Sonic was loaded on my computer as a free trial and has since been removed. You recently walked me through a bunch of changes to my computer recently as a result of the the virus Alpha Antivirus which have been corrected thanks to your help. I also added programs including Spy Doctor, Registry Mechanic (prior to your help) and Malwarebytes (thanks). I also did the Java, Adobe and windows updates too. Now when I boot I get a Windows installer pop up looking to install the Sonic Update Manager, which needs to be installed via CD-Rom or removable disc, for a program that doesnt exist on my computer anymore. It prompts me to search for a U.mis file which i cant find. So there is a trace file somewhere I guess. any help you could lend would be great
