How is the machine running now?

I seem to be having a problem with javascript.
Also, McAfee seems to have disappeared entirely.
No other proplems besides the 2 I have just mentioned.

When I use hijack this I get this pop-up window stating.." for some reason your system denied access to the Hosts file. If any highlighted domains are on this file, Hijack this may not be able to fix them". I click OK then I get this pop-up.."You have a particularly large amount of hijacked domains. It is probably better to delete the files itself than to fix to fix each item".

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop

• Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
  

2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

• Under "Input script here:", paste in the script from the quote box above.
  
• Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  
• Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  
• Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  
• Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
  
  The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  
  
• It will Restart your computer.
  
• On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  
• After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  
• The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.

No Good. I tried to play an online game and it stated "this game requires internet explorer and windows" I am using both. Also, youtube will not play videos. Also, I can't log-in to McAfee. I click on the log-in button and nothing happens. I fear this CPU has had it.

You will probably need to re-install Mcafee from fresh, one of the files is missing anyhow.

I have the latest flash player and the latest java. Still no luck with playing online games or veiwing youtube. I am at a total loss and my elderly mother gave up and does not use the computer any more.
