Nasty Virus wont let me run Hijack This

I have a friends computer that I am on now - she wasnt even able to get it to boot up - but I was able to - and when I did, I discovered her computer to be infested..

I have re-enabled task manager and regedit, both which were disabled, and I was able to download hijack this - but after I hit run, nothing happens

Any help would be amazing

Sorry, I was not ignoring your reply, I was unable to download from that site and additionally I have been unable to log into windows since that day. I ran Avira and it found 655 viruses...

Now when I get to the windows log on screen, if I move the mouse, it freezes and if I try to type in a windows log in password it wont type anything, the cursor continues to flash, but I cant log in, even in safe mode!

655? that sounds bad. Now, include the problems your having now and I bet we'll find a file infector here. Such things as Virut, that explains why it found over 600 if a lot of system files are infected.

Do you have your XP disc? we can try a straight format rather than mess around, there is too much damage to try and fix this.

I'll ask them - I know how to format a drive so I will ask them for any cd's they have - I'll see them Sunday and then I wont again for a week because I'll be on vacation
