First of all a big hello to all. Heard some awesome things about this place and look forward to reading up on all this tech knowledge floating around.
Now onto my problem. I consider myself a pretty tech savvy PC user. Always building systems and repairing PC's for friends and family. However. Im really stumped with this one. Stupidly after a short trip to Ireland and allowing my brother the use of my PC I have come back to find it full of illegal files and not suprisingly pornography. All of which I have now removed.
I also noticed some strange executables running in my task manager so by quickly killing them and then deleting they were gone. These were called simple a.exe and another I cant for the life of me remember! there is also one called something like vxjlsrtlf.exe. Im sorry I cant be exact as im running in safe mode at the moment and it isnt present.
After a thorough scan using an upto date version of Nod32 which finds nothing i attemtped to use trend micros great house call.........needless to say it just starts scanning and then dissapears completely. As have all my other programs such as spybot search & destroy. I have tried several other online scanners such as panda etc but none will run. It seems this virus has more control than even me lol. The only thing I can seem to get to run is stinger. and so far that has not picked anything up.
Well the PC just decided to shut down completely. No BSOD, no restart. just shut down and I have a feeling it is all going to get worse. I have just discovered after installing superantispyware that it isnt entirely removing the exe for it. I cant quite make out what its doing but the icon becomes blank and im told it refers to a location that is unavailable. Its all pretty strange to me, as as far as I know these programs were in use, so how the infection is able to erase or fiddle with files in use is really starting to annoy me lol.
Anyways, i am sorry for my rant. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I will continue to attempt to get a hijack log posted as soon as possible.
