Total Security

I need help!! I have Total Security on my home PC, and can't seem to get it off. I guess alot of people are in the same boat, because I have found lots of them with the same problem. I'm not a regular computer user and I'm trying to teach myself. I don't understand most of the posts that I've read.
I've downloaded antivirus software, but I can't run it. I'a unable to task master. In fact most of my functions say they are infected, including my control panel. I was told to delete windows system 32, but when I tried it said that if I did it would unload windows from my computer.
I need someone to tell me how to get this off in plain English.

See if you can download Hijack This from here:

Download and run it, see if you can do a system scan with logfile.
If you can, post the log back here.

It let me run the scan, but I can't copy and paste it here. ?? What next??

Why can't you? Does it say log is too big?

If so, split it up into more than one post.

It says the notepad is infected and won't let me open it. I'll try again.

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\winlogon

once there, look for a txt file named hijackthis, right click on it, and choose the open with option, now instead of opening it with notepad find wordpad and select it, does it open?

Thanks for your help!! I wasn't able to open anything on my computer on Thursday, or Friday, so I quit trying. I'm going to save up some money and get a pro to look at it. Thanks for all your help!!
