Hi, I know that i have just joined, but I really need some help.

I downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Website Windows 7 RC Build 7100 i think, whichever the newest one is.

When i downloaded, I had my hard drive split and i installed it on the new partition, it all works good, and when i reboot it does ask me which one i want to load, but when i log on to windows 7, i can only see 3/4 of the screen, like the Start Button and all those quick launch buttons are not visible, if i move the mouse off the side of the screen and randomly click, I can sometimes click on the start button so i know that it is there, it just doens't show, I tried every single resolution change that there is to check in the Screen Resolution thing and none of them worked. I have a 22 inch or 24 inch screen, I can't remember, but if someone can please tell me a way to fix this, I really want to try this new OS out, everyone says that it is awesome.

Thank You
- Windows.7.Tester

I will be posting more on the forums soon.

Hello.
Don't PM, I can help when I get a chance.

7100 isn't the latest, not sure what the latest is right now. Doc might know, he uses W7.

Don't think I can help much, hardware isn't my strong point, the 7100 I have has a few bugs in it too, no internet connection on mine. Indifferent or Blank

Your is probably graphics card related, but we'll see what Doc says.

Allright, sorry for PMing, but it's not hardware that is the problem, its the software, like I don't know why Windows 7 won't auto ajust my screen resolution.

Hello,

The most likely thing causing this problem would be the graphic card or the graphic driver. Did you get the latest version of the graphic drivers from your manufacturer's website?

Both ATI and nVidia have released drivers for Windows 7.

The latest build by the way, is 7260. But the official one is 7100.

Yeah, cause the watermark at the bottom says Build 7100. Also, yes I did goto nVidia's website and download the drivers for the 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate RC and it installed correctly because it made a file in my X: drive (where i installed Windows 7) that said nvidia that was never there before, so im guessing it worked, also this is really weird, I tried to take a screen shot of my screen to show what was happening, but when I looked at the photo, it showed the start button and everything in the photo just not on my screen?

Weird.

I am also running win 7 same build as you. I also have an nVidia 9800 GTX. Make sure that it did install in device manager as well as it just being randomly on the hard drive.

Yep....What shows up under 'display adaptors' in Device Manager?

For one, I do not have a NVIDIA 9800 GTX graphics card, I have an NVIDIA 9500 GT graphics card, don't know if that makes a difference or not but just letting you know. Also, the device manager is where i right click "Computer" and click "Manage" then goto Device Manager correct?

If so, then it just shows the name of my pc, which is different than my Windows Vista comp name so that I know that it is reconigzing Windows 7 and it does so, I went to my graphic device, and clicked on my graphics card, then clicked update drivers, and my computer said "Your device is as updated as it can get right now." and gave me an "ok" button.

So, what does this mean?

All 9 series use the same drivers. Try uninstalling and reinstalling your driver. I just reformated and reinstalled windows 7 and my driver installed itself.

Allright well now the problem has gotten worse, now when I log on to my computer it gives me an error box that says that my Desktop is not available and none of my icons are there, and even though i'm in the really weird mode where i can't see my desktop, it still gives me the host processes has been canceled and stuff, my operating system is really screwed up.

I'm not my dad's comp right now, cause like i can't open anything on mine.

Try to perform a repair with backup disc, it will be the quickest and easiest way around.
