I am experiencing a problem on my internet explorer where if I do a Google search and click on a site I am redirected to an unrelated website or am displayed search engine results from Info.com. I have run AVG anti-virus free, spyware doctor and Counterspy, all of which have frozen when reaching the System32 scan. I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and the Google search engine works fine, however, when I open the browser my AVG always detects a "trojan horse clicker" which I subsequently heal. My Hijackthis log file is as follows:

That's a Rootkit if I'm not mistaken, please do the following:

1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

* Tools->Options->Main tab
* Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

Google Redirect Virus CF_download_FF

Google Redirect Virus CF_download_rename

3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
5. Close any open browsers.
6. We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.

  • See HERE for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouse click combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

The combofix log is too big to fit as a reply on the board. I can cut and paste it in pieces, but IMO that is a pain. Is there anyway I can upload the text file for you?

Yes please upload the txt files for me.

I encountered a new problem when running my IE this morning. My Avast! antivirus program began to show several warnings of viruses which I proceeded to repeatedly moved to the chest. My computer then showed a blue screen saying that the system must be shutdown to prevent a malicious program from damaging the computer. Now my computer can only be run in SAFE MODE. Normal mode will not work at all. I am also not able to retrieve my combofix log as I had saved it to my desktop and am now getting the message that the file has been moved.

The log for avast! is as follows:

I found the combofix.txt file but don't know how to upload it. It is way too big to cut and paste.

descriptionGoogle Redirect Virus EmptyRe: Google Redirect Virus

You can upload it here:

http://rapidshare.com

Once there, click on the browse button and find the ComboFix.txt and click on, it will start to upload, then once finished you will get a URL linking to that file, copy and paste that URL back here.
