Help! System Security Virus!

Earlier today random pop-ups started appearing saying that I should download system security because my computer is infected. Obviously I knew this was a scam.

The virus has somehow blocked me from opening almost any programs. The only thing I seem to be able to run is the internet. I have spyware removal software, but it won't open either. I even tried running task manager, but it won't open.

Can someone please help?

Before anyone tells me to...I was able to download and run Hijack This. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with it though.

I am not able to run notepad.

When you run system scan with log file, and the log file is generated wherever Hijack This is saved, Desktop maybe.

Right click the log > Open with. Choose Wordpad and see if that will run.

When I tried clicking "Open with" a box popped up for one second then went away. It won't let me open the logfile

I also tried downloading the IceSword program and deleting the random numbered item. I still can't open any other program besides internet explorer, icesword, and hijack this.

You'll have to transport the log via USB to another machine and post from there then.
