My computer is infected with the deadly and intricate winbluesoft. I am on a friend's computer right now. Winbluesoft has stopped me from running all programs. I cannot download anything from the web to help me get rid of winbluesoft. I would be willing to buy a program from a store but I think winbluesoft might block it from running too. The geekpolice guide (and many others online) require a download of a program, this is something I cannot do. I am admittadly not an expert on computers so the manual removal scares me a little. Is there anyway I can stop winbluesoft from blocking my programs, then install an antivirus?

Tell me if it stays open.

Does it stay open? IceSword is an Anti-Rootkit program that is used to find hidden processes.

it stays open on my friend;s computer i haven't tried my own yet, my infected computer is powered down because i fear winbluesoft may corrupt some of my files

You should try it on yours, if your friends computer isn't infected then its likely to open since there is no infection.

You navigate to the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Then in the right side panel of Winlogon, find AppInit_DLLs, which points are "blocker.dll"
Delete the AppInit_DLLs value.

Sorry my mistake for wording it wrong

  • Open the Ice Sword folder and then launch IceSword.exe.
  • Then look in the left hand bottom of the program and press "Registry"
  • When the registry list opens, drag the line between the two windows so you can see which registry hive you need.
  • Next, open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

  • Now look in the right side pane for two run values that are just random numbers.
  • Once you have found the value(s), right click it and press "Delete"
  • Okay the prompt and close IceSword.

**If you are unable to open the zipped file, download IceSword from here:

Ok now see if you can install HijackThis:

Please download the current version of HijackThis from HERE

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

Winbluesoft CF_download_FF

Winbluesoft CF_download_rename

3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
5. Close any open browsers.
6. We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.

  • See HERE for how to disable your AV. (Mcafee)
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***
  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouse click combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

I do not have a Recoverey Console...the problems with winbluesoft have ceased...also when i run a scan with malwarebyte's anti-malware it does not find anything...is it neccessary to run the combo-fix? is there an alternative?

descriptionWinbluesoft EmptyRe: Winbluesoft

Hard to tell at this stage. We have other tools that run quite quickly and show us what we need, but MBAM has removed a lot and I can't be sure what this next log will show. Either is will look better and less malware, or there's another problem MBAM hasn't picked up.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
    Link 1
    Link 2
  • Double click DDS.scr to run.
  • When complete, two logs will open. Save both of the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.

We do need to run Combofix, there is still an infection left.

Download and follow Origins instructions.

It's just something to help us out should something go wrong.
Skip it and choose no and don't install the recovery console.
