Internet really slow coming up; computer slow

I did all the stuff before posting you advise. My internet is slow coming up when I click on internet on desktop. So is My Documents and other stuff. My friend tried to fix it for me. It has been getting worse and worse. Slow I mean. I have 1 gb ram, 40 gb hardrive and XP. Here is my log, thank you for helping me

Your machines hardware is on the low-end for nowadays higher performance. 40gb isn't that much for XP anymore, and 1gb could be better with 2gb.

Right now, my best advice would giving your machine a good clean out, stop un-needed startup items, etc. I don't see any malware in the log.

• Open HijackThis.

I recommend you remove the Java Quick Starter because it's not needed.
To do so, follow these instructions.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Java.
In the Java control panel, open the click the Advanced tab. Click the + in front of Miscellaneous and uncheck the Java Quick Starter box.

yes other stuff on desktop is faster; like My Documents, Works, games but not the internet deal. I deleted it and put another one on for AT&T Yahoo. But still slow slow before a window even opens. Same with Firefox. I went in all programs and start internet from there=still slow slow. I have dsl too.

Try disabling it and see what happens.

Combofix is extremely powerful, and actions have to be taken BEFORE running Combofix to make sure nothing messes with Combofix, because components of Combofix are detected as "Hacktool" or "riskware".

So you/your friends disabled AVG/AT&T Internet Secuurity, turned off SuperAntiSpyware, turned off PCTools, installed the recovery console, allowed it to run without clicking around?

I'm not trying to blame anyone, but like I said, it's extremely powerful, long and detailed measures need to be taken to make sure nothing interferes, that's why it's not recommend running it without a trained expert watching over.
