I have the WnPc Antivirus problem that most people are having.

I really hope you can help me with this. I have no idea how it even got on my computer. I didn't download or open any e-mails, all I was doing was checking my Facebook account, and then suddenly, boom, there it was. I've also been getting this notice that says that my Firewall is being attacked, but when I go and check my firewall, it's saying that there is no attack.

I've downloaded Hijackthis and here's the log from the system scan.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbaredits/menusearch.jhtml?p=ZJxdm172YYUS

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

  • Download combofix from here
    Link 1
    Link 2
1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

* Tools->Options->Main tab
* Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

WnPc Antivirus CF_download_FF

WnPc Antivirus CF_download_rename

3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
5. Close any open browsers.
6. We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
See HERE for how to disable your AV..

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***
  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

I was actually able to get it off my computer using the mal-ware software you have mentioned in the post about how to get rid of WnPc Antivirus. Hopefully, I'll never have this problem again. I was just wondering, how did it get on my computer in the first place? I didn't open any e-mails or download anything, I was just checking my e-mails. But, thank you for your help. I really appreciate it.

Probably though the very old version of Java.

  • Open HijackThis.
  • When Hijack This opens, click "Open the Misc Tools section"
  • Then select "Open Uninstall Manager"
  • Click on "Save List..." (generates uninstall_list.txt)
  • Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.
