Let’s look at what kind of frames per second (FPS) performance we get from the two operating systems using four different graphics cards.

Here’s the testbed:

* Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 overclocked to 3.6GHz
* 4GB RAM (2×2GB)

Here are the graphics cards I’ll be looking at:

* Radeon HD 4870 X2
* GeForce GTX 260
* GeForce 8800 GTX
* Radeon HD 4850

Here are the games we will be testing:

* Crysis Warhead
* Far Cry 2
* Left 4 Dead

All games will be run at 1,680 x 1,050.

Why use 4gig on a 32bit system? waste of ram>.> I just hope that ATI had better support for catalyst in windows 7.

Thanks for the reply

Well, actually now a days 32 bit system comes with 4 gig ram as a standard . It's a uniform standard which most of the PC manufacturers follow as on for now & is going to be more or upgraded by the end of the year by the PC manufacturers.Especially Vista is a slow OS & therefore one needs more ram to tackle the slow behaviour especially during gaming. One can upgrade the ram or custom make pc to have more ram or buy a server with more ram. Its totally an individual choice but that won't set the standard for testing. The results actually indicate that their is not much difference between the performance of Windows 7 RC/Build 7100 or Vista RC1.So,there’s no real advantage to users of either ATI or NVIDIA GPUs making it vivid that when we get hands on to new windows 7 RTM we wont suffer any performance issues which we suffered in vista while gaming. Secondly, we must give some time for the updates & upcoming windows 7 drivers to mature so as to see real boost in the gaming performance & Definately we wont be disappointed as they r planning something big soon in the month of summer, probably july ,associated with windows 7 release. Windows 7 Is the only OS as On For Now Which Can atleast fade the bruises of Vista On Microsoft both performance wise and business wise.

Anyway thanks for the reply. Smile...
