dvd burner not working in dell laptop

nero and other burning programs have been giving me "media not supported" errors, despite working fine just weeks ago,

the burner is NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A and im using sony dvd-r's,

convertxtodvd give me this error when trying to burn a dvd "access violation at address 04795222 in module 'vso_hwe.dll' read of address 00000000

Hello,

Updating your firmware might help.

Then check with Disc info in Nero CD/DVD Speed, to see your drive can read MID from the disc (both burned and new blank discs).

Also try a benchmark test.

Though, if you could burn week before with same media, your drive may be giving up.
