Every time I scan with AVG it comes up with 15-30 viruses identified as "Win32/Cryptor", and it doesn't delete/heal them, so I click "Delete unhealed infections" and it only gets rid of about 75% of them.
Also, something seems to click off the screen making my current window inactive quite often. On top of this, any search engine results seem to take me to random websites every time.

Here's the log thingy, help is much appreciated:

Alright, ever since running these programs you have advised me to, my computer has restarted twice upon the automatic restarts with Avenger.
After both, it brought up a number of new threats when it loaded my desktop, and and second boot up it found a Trojan in one of the Avenger files.
Sorry if I'm jumping to conclusions, but is this intentional? -_-

Hello.
Not intentional on my behalf. AVG is full of false positives, I know in the past it has detected a number of our tools as malware. Whatever is alerting you of the avenger, ignore it.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

I was surprised that it found Trojans. Can you explain why AVG found countless "Win32/Cryptor"'s?
And also, with all do respect, how should I trust that you didn't just upload several viruses to my computer with your programs and advice?

I apologize in advance for coming off rude.

descriptionWin32/Cryptor Help EmptyRe: Win32/Cryptor Help

Why would I do that? I have 10 thousand posts and I uphold our rep of this forum.

If you choose not to trust me, then go find another forum where your waiting more than 3 days for an answer. I help because I can and want to, I aren't paid for this. I could stop helping you right now for that remark, but I won't because there's a bigger picture here. Your machine - As long as malware is on your machine, then your machine is responsible for infecting other machines too.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
    Link 1
    Link 2
  • Double click DDS.scr to run
  • When complete, DDS.txt will open.
  • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.

I already apologized for asking my question. It wasn't meant to insult. However, with the current state of my PC I think I sort of... kind of, have the right to be a little cautious. And with the unexplained restarting and Trojans, I was merely curious.

Again, I apologize for offending or insulting you. And I thank you for your time and patience. It was not my intention to upset you.

I'm not sure if I did this right, it just sat on what looked like DOS for a bit, then I wasn't sure what to do so I pressed "Enter" and the log appeared.

Hello.
I understand, but the malware you had is quite stubborn to remove and we have to use delete on reboot removal otherwise the rootkit will run and won't die. I want to see what's installed.

  • Open HijackThis.
  • When Hijack This opens, click "Open the Misc Tools section"
  • Then select "Open Uninstall Manager"
  • Click on "Save List..." (generates uninstall_list.txt)
  • Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

Hello.

I see that you are running Bitcomet.
P2P(Peer to peer) applications are designed to help you easily share and distribute files between you and a group of people. But they can also be used to distribute malware, and thus are not considered safe.
The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

If Bitcomet is not removed, then I won't help you.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

  • BitComet 1.07
  • LimeWire 4.12.6

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.

  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it.
  • Copy the bolded text below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :files
    c:\program files\bitcomet
    c:\program files\viewpoint
    C:\sqmdata*.sqm
    C:\sqmnoopt*.sqm
    c:\windows\system32\uactmp.db
    c:\windows\system32\UACjesjtxrk.db

    :reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045}]

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please post the OTMoveIt log.

I uninstalled both P2P programs (I figured BitComet was safe because my brother's a computer geek and he has it). Anyway, about the results, does this mean the following files will be deleted?
It's not a problem, I'm just curious.

OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer - Version 1.0.11.0 log created on 04142009_211614

No. OTMoveIt never deletes anything, because then if we made any mistakes [which we didn't], then we wouldn't be able to get it back. The files are just quarantined,

P2P is never a good idea. Your brother might not be infected right now, but wait till Virut hits him (unfixable, not option but to format the machine). 😉

We can remove OTMoveIt now.

  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it again.
  • Press the green CleanUp! button.
  • Press Yes cleanup process prompt, do the same for the reboot prompt.
How is the machine running now?

Well, I don't have anyway of really telling the difference unless I observe to see if it's clicking off my window making it inactive, or if I run a virus scan.
However, I went to Google, and it seems to be searching fine again. Smile...
BUT, a random time before when I still had the viruses, Google worked fine for a couple hours or so.
-_- Confusing.
Should I run a virus scan with AVG?
