I am having multiple different problems:
1. Computer is running much slower and stupider
2. When I try to change any settings into any msconfig on the startup screen it wont save it and tells me I need to be logged on as Administrator when I already am.
3. It wont allow me to ccreate any network places; it goes through all the steps and acts like it should work but then when I open my Network places nothinng is there.

Thanks for the help! -Let me know if you need any more info.

-Chris

Hello.

I strongly recommend you to remove Ask from your computer because it's:

  • Promoting its toolbars on sites targeted to kids.
  • Promoting its toolbars through ads that appear to be part of other companies' sites.
  • Promoting its toolbars through other companies' spyware.
  • Installing without any disclosure whatsoever and without any consent whatsoever.
  • Soliciting installations via "deceptive door openers" that do not accurately describe the offer; failing to affirmatively show a license agreement; linking to a EULA via an off-screen link.
  • Making confusing changes to users' browsers -- increasing Ask's revenues while taking users to pages they didn't intend to visit.
See Here for more info.

If you choose to follow my recommendation then please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

  • Ask Toolbar
Then please find and delete this folder in bold (if present):
C:\Program Files\AskBarDis

I see you have Viewpoint Manager, this is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". See here and here for more info.

I suggest you remove the program now.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

  • Viewpoint
  • Viewpoint Manager
  • Viewpoint Media Player
  • Viewpoint Toolbar
Then please find and delete this folder in bold (if present):
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

Now lets make sure that Viewpoint is fully gone from the system.

  • Next, please download ViewpointKiller by Prm753 from here.
  • Save it to a permanent folder (such as C:/ViewpointKiller) and unzip it there.
  • Open ViewpointKiller, and press the Start button.
  • A log will be produced in the same folder where you unzipped it to. Please post the contents of that log in your reply.

Hello.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O21 - SSODL: SSODL - {EC43E3FD-5C60-46a6-97D7-E0B85DBDD6C4} - (no file)

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

Here is the DDS Log File; yes the prior steps did seem to make a dent in the problem but I am still having issues when I try to make Administrative changes, even though I am signed into to the Admin account (For that matter I dont even haave more than one XP username, so it should by default be ADMIN, it says it is when I check but it wont let make changes as an admin.

Thanks

Hello.
Still some work to do.

DDS has revealed a rootkit driver running on your machine.

Your computer has multiple infections, including a backdoor. A backdoor gives intruders complete control of your computer, logs your keystrokes, steal personal information, etc.

You are strongly advised to do the following:

  • Disconnect the computer from the Internet and from any networked computers until it is cleaned.
  • Back up all your important data except programs. The programs can be reinstalled back from the original disc or from the Net.
  • Call all your banks, financial institutions, credit card companies and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft and put a watch on your accounts. If you don't mind the hassle, change all your account numbers.
  • From a clean computer, change all your passwords (ISP login password, your email address(es) passwords, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, online groups and forums and any other online activities you carry out which require a username and password).
Do NOT change your passwords from this computer as the attacker will be able to get all the new passwords and transaction records.

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.

  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it.
  • Copy the bolded text below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :services
    ntndis
    sysrest.sys

    :files

    c:\windows\system32\yehazonu.dll
    c:\windows\system32\mudedozi.dll

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\SecurityProviders]
    "SecurityProviders"="msapsspc.dll, schannel.dll, digest.dll, msnsspc.dll"

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.

I watch a lot of streaming video online, do you think any of this stuff could be from that? Also after I clean everything up do you have any recomendations of free programs I can use to keep my computer protected.
Currently I use AVG Firewall, Ad Aware & Trojan Remover. Are these sufficient, should I be using these - should I not, what do you recommend?

Thank You
-Chris
