Just this week, I received a few messages that I was infected with the BankerFox.A virus and a Win32/Nuquel virus.

A security alert pop-up came up on my screen, which I closed it right away knowing that I was infected with some kind of virus.

I have CA Virus protection and tried to do some troubleshooting but as I try and re-boot and login, computer will not let me in after login. It repeats itself at the login screen in a constant loop. I keep entering my password to get in and get the same thing.

I have Windows XP Home Edition.

I re-installed Windows with a 'Repair' function and still get the same results. I have also tried in SAFE MODE. but nothing.

I am not sure what to do and NEED HELP!!!!

Can someone offer some advice on what to do.

PLEASE

Leo

Please download the current version of HijackThis from HERE

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

Thanks for your reply.

How can I access this file if I can't get into my computer? As mentioned, I cannot access my computer. I cannot get past the login screen.

I am typing from my work laptop.

How do I ask this file and run it on the affected computer?

Hello.
Can you not boot in safe mode? we can try getting a boot log to see what drivers is not functioning correctly.

If you can boot in safe mode, we use msconfig to switch on boot logging, but if you can't, we can do it another way.

Restart the machine again. Start tapping F8 after the beep. Select "Enable boot logging", then choose your OS and see if it will boot.
