geekpolice,

Everytime I open internet explorer AVG advises

File: c:windows\system32\gaopdxfkpavsgimyhcmtwgbpwbbwvbgtnvofgy.dll
Infection: Virus identified Win32/Cryptor
Process name: C:Program Files\iexplore.exe

Internet explorer usually then won't respond, stops working and then has to close down. If i run as administrator everything seems to be a ok.

  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

2. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Leave the sctipt box empty.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.

  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
3. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Hi,

like avg the update program can't connect to the internet which i assume is a firewall issue. Even if it is added to the list it can't connect, if i turn windows firewall off it still won't connect. Avg does the same thing too when trying to update. I've started the scan anyway to see what happens. Could it be this cryptor that is making the updating process of programs difficult too?

Hello.
This looks good, how's the machine running?

Please update MBAM to the current database (1940) I think is the latest.
Run the scan again just to make sure.

Hi, i'm unable to update the mbam. I choose to update it but it just sits there trying to connect to their database, it doesn't say that there is a connection error though. Also, internet explorer still doesn't open unless i do a run as administrator. It still comes up with the same previous errors but at least now avg doesn't come up with any issues.

I ran the mbam scan anyway with the current version that i have and it found no errors.

Thanks again for you help so far, it is much appreciated.

Hello.

Download the latest database from here:
http://malwarebytes.gt500.org/mbam-rules.exe

Install that file, it will install the latest database into MBAM manually.

Scan again and see what it picks up.
If nothing, then do this.

  • Open HijackThis
  • When Hijack This opens, click "Open the Misc Tools section"
  • Then select "Open Uninstall Manager"
  • Click on "Save List..." (generates uninstall_list.txt)
  • Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.
