Error message on bootup

I get the following message on bootup and then it locks up. Has anyone seen this and knows what to do about it?

May I confirm that the operating system you are using is Windows XP?

Does this happen every time you boot up? Have you recently installed any drivers or security softwares?

I am running XP. I have not installed any new drivers or security software.

It happens every time.....

Boot into safe mode, and download this hotfix:

Run it and see if the problem still occurs.

If it still occurs, Start >> run >> msconfig >> Startup tab >> Disable all >> apply. If this one works, we could slowly determine which startup itme is causing this error.

I'm not able to goto the site in safe mode for some reason.
I guess we will have to determine which startup item it is by the other method.

You could not go into Safe mode because of the blue screen or because of something else?

Boot into Safe mode by doing the following:

• Restart your computer
  
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, keep tapping F8.
  
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  
• Select the option, to run Windows in Safe Mode with Networking.
  
• When you are at the logon prompt, log in as the same user that you had performed the previous steps as.

If you really can't boot into safe mode, then you will have to perform a repair or format of Windows.

Yeah, I do start up that way and am able to get online. Certain sites don't operate the way they should. The Microsoft link is one of them. I am able to do it here at work but when I get home I can't with that computer. I wish I could download it here at work to my thumbdrive and take it home. It wants to do a Windows verification though.

So, are you still able to boot into normal windows mode?

The mode that I use to boot up with is called:
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows Domain Controllers Only)
This allows me to get online.

I guess I will have to do it the second way you said. Do I have to disable all and then restore each item 1 at a time and restart till I find the one that causes the problem?

Yes, you could start with the startup items first. Then the services.

I need to let you know the problem is fixed. I was having a problem with a browser re-director (Windowsclick). I was working with Belahzur and he helped me clear it up. After I did the things he advised, the bootup problem was fixed.
