Having problems with a lot of Spyware

My computer had been having problems with a number of different Spyware programs. I've been able to remove most of them using Spyware Detector and McAfee Anti-Virus (all scans are now coming back clean). However, computer is still not running properly. Spybot S & D and Malware Bytes both will not open so I am unable to use them to scan. Here is the result from Hijack this:

Hello.

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Please make sure Teatimer is disable before we do this, otherwise this fix will fail.

• Open HijackThis
  
• Choose "Do a system scan only"

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

I followed your advice and fixed the selected files in Hijack This. I downloaded Malwarebytes, but it will not open (I've been having this problem since my spyware problems started). I downloaded the most recent version, and followed your advice exactly. It clearly downloaded properly, but it will not open, I've tried the desktop icon and through the start menu. I'm fairly certain that it is a byproduct of the spyware problems (Spybot S&D also stopped opening once my problems started). What should I do now?

Tried extracting Avenger. Got the following message: "The compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted"

Did you download the avenger from the second link? Did drop.io give you a link to a .zip file and you downloaded it correctly?

Finallly got it to work, but keep getting the following error message:

I think Mcafee is interfering here.
Did the avenger make a log file?

I don't think it created a log, but I'm not sure. Should I disable McAfee?

No, no point.
Mcafee doesn't disable correctly, it turns itself back on when the machine reboots like the avenger needs to.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

See if there's an avenger report in the C:\ drive.

If not, run the avenger again using the script provided.

I was able to remove all of the programs except "Live Reg (Symantec Corporation)." Tried running Avenger, but came across the same error message. There is an Avenger txt file, but it just has a register of the error message.

Please run a GMER Rootkit scan:

Download GMER's application from here:
http://www.gmer.net/gmer.zip

Unzip it and start the GMER.exe
Click the Rootkit tab and click the Scan button.

Once done, click the Copy button.
This will copy the results to your clipboard.
Paste the results in your next reply.

Warning ! Please, do not select the "Show all" checkbox during the scan.

If you're having problems with running GMER.exe, try it in safe mode.
This tools works in safe mode. Other rootkitrevealers don't.
The log will be quite big, so you may need to upload the file to www.mediafire.com

I tried running it in both Safe Mode and regular mode. Gmer.exe will not open.

I was able to disable my Spyware Detector, which allowed Avenger to run. Here is the avenger.txt:

We need to make a new restore point.

To turn off System Restore, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Click the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.
4. Click Yes when you receive the prompt to the turn off System Restore.

Now we need to make a new restore point.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers.

1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

Ad-Aware SE

Spybot-Search & Destroy
A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features.

SpywareBlaster

A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. Thanks again. I already use Mozilla as a browser, but I will download the add-ons. I also already was using Spybot S&D. Should I download the other programs as well? I wasn't entirely clear from your last post if you meant that all 4 programs should be downloaded and running simultaneously.

Just have one or two running.
Having all 4 running will slow your system down.
