Computer Freezes during Virus Scan

I am now back on my PC. I think I was rebooting too quickly. I've left it for an hour and it has started 1st time . I will try a scan overnight and let you know how it gets on.

When I got up this morning my PC had frozen at 52.8% of the Avira Anti Vir scan. I switched off and left it for 20 mins and when I rebooted it was fine. In fact it seems to be running a bit faster now.

I am at work now but any further advice on how to solve my problem would be greatly appreciated

I think I've done all I can now.
Slowness isn't malware related and is probably more hardware related.

If you post in our hardware section and post your system specs, I'm sure one of our staff members will drop by. I specialize more in software than in hardware.
