descriptionSolvedAnother Zafi.B virus

more_horiz
This evening while on the internet, my computer suddenly restarted itself. When the computer restarted, Firefox came back up but instead of going to my homepage, it went to some anti-virus software ad. A Windows firewall warning came up about Win32.Zafi.B. I tried searching for info about it, but everytime I hit search, Firefox would open a new tab with random other stuff in it. I finally succeeded by copying and pasting the addresses with info from the search page. I have disabled system restore and restarted in Safe Mode (with network). Below is my HijackThis file. Thanks.

  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
C:\Documents and Settings\Kyle\Application Data\Google\yfijv17721328.exe

  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
4. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Hello.
Now we just need to delete leftovers.

2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
C:\backup.reg
C:\zip.exe
C:\cleanup.exe
C:\cleanup.bat
c:\windows\system32\TDSSlxwp.dll
c:\windows\system32\TDSScfum.dll
c:\windows\system32\TDSSriqp.dll
c:\windows\system32\TDSSbrsr.dll
c:\windows\system32\TDSSosvd.dat
c:\windows\system32\TDSSofxh.dll

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Under "Input script here:", paste in the script from the quote box above.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

The Avenger will automatically do the following:

  • It will Restart your computer.
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
4. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Hello. Looks good now.
Delete this folder in bold:
C:\avenger

What problems remain?

descriptionSolvedRe: Another Zafi.B virus

more_horiz
I deleted the folder indicated and restarted in Normal mode. Upon startup, I got a message about a file that couldn't be found (I think it was cleanup.exe). I opened msconfig and I was still in "Selective Startup" on the General tab. I have switched it back to "Normal Startup". Otherwise everything looks good.

Thanks for all the help.
