Hello, clean these leftovers.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbaredits/menusearch.jhtml?p=ZKxdm171YYGB
    O23 - Service: My Web Search Service (MyWebSearchService) - Unknown owner - C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\mwssvc.exe (file missing)

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

====

Now open a new notepad file.
Input this into the notepad file:

@echo off
sc stop "MyWebSearchService"
sc delete "MyWebSearchService"
del Fixservices.bat
exit

Save this as Fixservices.bat, save it to your desktop.
Double click Fixservices.bat and the black cmd window will open and close, this is normal.
====

I see this machine uses wireless. This is most probably a hardware issue. Is your router configured to allow your wireless access?

Hi. Lets do this before I flag the all clear.

  • Download combofix from here, use the top links - combofix.exe
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
    ***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

    **Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

    re mywebsearch - hijack log from beppeboy RcAuto1

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

    re mywebsearch - hijack log from beppeboy Whatnext

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
    Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Hello.
Thanks, that only got a leftover.

Can you try to access this IP adress.
74.86.239.78

Place that into the URL field in your browser.
Does it work?
===

If it still doesn't, try this.

Please download LSPfix from here:
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/lspfix.zip

Unzip it to the desktop and run it.
Check "I know what I'm doing".
Open LSPFix into full screen.
Press the Finish button.

Any change?

Are you using an Asus brand PC?

If yes, try to reinstall the Splendid utility to fix this problem, software can be found from the support CD or here:

I would like you to disable any proxy connections if you are using any, just to be sure, although I doubt this has anything to do with proxies.

I'm guessing the removed infection has damaged the TCP/IP stack and probably also corrupted a necessary registry key in the process.

I would like you to run through the following:

(1) Firstly, make sure that all firewalls being used are disabled. ie. windows firewall or one that is active through a security suite (Norton or McAFee etc)

(2) Double check that 'work offline' is not checked within the browser settings (sometimes malware can activate this simple issue.)

(3) Download and run Winsockfix http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml

(4) Download and run HostsXpert http://www.funkytoad.com/content/view/13/31/

(5) If none of the above doesn't help then its possible that a registry key has been tampered with or is missing.
To overcome this issue it may be necessary to uninstall, then reinstall the browser to see if this helps with the problem!

You can also try to install another browser other than IE or Firefox (ie. Google Chrome, Opera) and see if the issue also still occurs with it (make sure you have completed the above procedures firstly).
