How to Fix a Code 28 Error

1. If you haven't already restart your computer, a reboot might fix the Code 28.

2. Remove the newly installed device driver.

3. Roll back the driver to the version prior to your driver update.

4. Use System Restore tool to undo recent Device Manager changes.

5. Update the drivers for the device. Installing the latest manufacturer supplied drivers for a device with the Code 28 error is the most likely solution to the problem.

6. Install all available Windows updates.

7. Replace the hardware. As a last resort, you may need to replace the hardware that has the Code 28 error.
