How to Add Desktop Icons
When you install Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows 10 you will notice that your desktop has only the Recycle Bin icon. If you wish to add other icons such as the Computer, Network, Control Panel, and your User's Files icon you will need to perform a few easy steps.
1. Right-click some empty space on the Desktop; select Personalize.
2. From Settings app that has opened, select Themes followed by ‘Desktop icon settings’.
At this screen you can select the icons that you want to appear on your desktop. You may have also noticed a checkbox labeled "Allow themes to change desktop icons". If you select this option, when you install a new Windows theme, the theme is allowed to change the icon used to represent the various desktop icons.
