New Laptop Issues

I purchased a new acer laptop running Windows 8.1. It has an intel I5 chip, 8gb ram and 1000 gb hard drive.

Issue #1. While on line it will get hung up on random websites... Close and try again and will sometimes it will reload. I am not sure but it feels like something is running in the background maybe virus software that was loaded with the machine. (McAfee)

Issue #2 The "trial" software expired today. I don't want to purchase this software. Any recommendations for a good free software?

If you mean an Anti-virus program, Windows 8.1 comes with its AV called Windows Defender. You can uninstall McAfee. If you have problems uninstalling it, please let me know and I'll give you a tool to do so. The problems you mentioned could have been caused by running two AV's. Is this computer still under warranty?

Sorry, yes you are correct "anti-virus program". I am removing McAfee now...

Yes it is under a warranty. I Purchased it in December, 2014

If you're still experiencing problems you should take it back for warranty repairs.
