Hello and thank you,
I am not good with computers so I am not sure if my computer is suffering from Malware or some virus. I went to a site online and it already started this download of a program and I couldn't stop it. I shut off my computer and when I reopened it I saw a strange icon that looked like my Google chrome icon and it was called cross browser. I tried to uninstall it but it said it couldn't be uninstalled until it was closed but nothing was open on my computer. Then I saw icon short cuts to YouTube, search, Facebook and Wikipedia , Amazon and Cross browser on my desktop that were not there before. I am not sure what I should do? I tried downloading adwcleaner but avast says it blocks it and it says the downloading failed.
I have a Toshiba laptop, windows 7 operating system.

please help me!

-thank you for your time

Hello and welcome to GeekPolice.Net My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer.

1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.
4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.
5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line.

Hello Dave and thank you so much,
I would like to post the logs but it says because I am a new member I can't copy and paste them for 7 days.
Also the AdWcleaner got rid of the youtube and facebook icons shortcuts that on my desktop when all this started but the icons for wikipedia, amazon and this short cut to google cross installation still remain on my desktop.

Remove any links in the logs and you should be able to post them. Just delete those shortcuts and see if they come back.

Hello and thank you. I deleted the links but I guess I must of missed some because I still could not post so I attached all the logs as a pdf file if that is okay?

I saw the cross browser that appeared on my desk top in my programs so I went to uninstall it and it said error that it was already uninstalled so I deleted from the list and I deleted all the short-cuts off my desk top, so far nothing new.

I also been updating some of my programs.

-thank you so much again
