Machine freezez Will not let me Download MBAM

I have a Toshiba Satallite L775.  Windows 7 64 bit.  Webroot found some Trojans a few days ago, but I deleted them and WebRoot now says computer is clean, but since then I've encountered the freezing up problem.  I just tried to download AD Cleaner and Malware Bites from the links on the READ THIS TOPIC FIRST, Page here but I get a message saying computer setting won't allow the download.  I have an old version of both on my desktop.  Should I run those are wait for instructions.

Please help.

Hello and welcome to GeekPolice.Net My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer.

1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line.

Can you download MBAM on another computer and transfer it to your computer? You could also try downloading and running it in Safe Mode with Networking.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your Desktop.

Before starting AdwCleaner, close all open programs and internet browsers, then double-click on the AdwCleaner icon.



If Windows prompts you as to whether or not you wish to run AdwCleaner, please allow it to run.
When the AdwCleaner program will open, click on the Scan button as shown below.



AdwCleaner will now start to search for malicious files that may be installed on your computer.
To remove the files that were detected in the previous step, please click on the Clean button.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• It should update automatically if the computer is connected to the internet.
  
• Click on Threat Scan and click on Scan Now.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete make sure all the infections have "quarantine" selected in the Action box.
  
• Click on "Apply actions" You may be asked to Restart your computer to completely remove the infections.
  
• When disinfection is completed you can click on "Copy to Clipboard".

Okay, Dave.  Thanks for the quick response. This is one sick puppy.  I'm on another Toshiba laptop excatly like the infected one, they are side by side.  I tried downloading the Adware cleaner and Mbam in safe mode but I still get the message settings won't allow the download.  I downloaded Adware Cleaner and Mbam to this machine and dragged the Adware cleaner onto a CDRW and ran it on the infected machine and finally posted the report above from the infected machine.  I can't find the Mbam exe on this clean machine, only the desktop shortcut.  It it is not in my downloads folder where the Adware cleaner was.  

The sick machine keeps trying to redirect to a ilivid download Manager page.  I do have an outdated Mbam on the sick machine desktop, but it is expired.  Should I try to run it anyway?

I finally got all three programs onto the sick machine. The only one that would run is the Adware cleaner Mbam gets about 25% then starts over. I let it run for an hour. It also still says it is expired, but trys to run. The Security Check runs a few seconds then says UNSUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEM ABORTED! Machine runs like a 486.
I tried uninstalling Mbam and reinstalling it, It pops up that warning saying I already have a program by that name, but does not show in Add Remove. I did find an old folder on the desktop that has Fix TDSS NPE Web Root and tdsskiller. All of these are from a previous GP fix and are probably expired. Should I remove them

Dave, I reformatted the CDRW to use like a USB storage device.  I'm thinking that was probably a mistake.  Can I infect my clean computer if I use that CDRW back and forth.  I was going to try and reinstall Malware bites from this thread onto the cd.  I can't get Mbam to run, and it is still saying that it is expired.  I even uninstalled it and reinstalled from the CD, but still get that message.  Funny, I'm typing this on the infected machine.  Sometimes it seems to be okay, then it will start acting up again.  Maybe it's a hardware issue.  Please let me know about the CD.  I will have to go buy some or erase this one and just use it in regular CD mode.

No, as long as you don't transfer any files or programs from the infected computer you should be good.

Okay, I finally got Mbam to run a scan in safe mode as administrator. it took over an hour and says Scan Complete, no malicious threats found, but when I look in the Quarantine folder it shows two items, a Softonic exe file and a Start menu Registry Data. It didn't give me a written report and I don't know how to make it do that. Should I delete these two files and how do I get Mbam to print a report?

If this was the old version of MBAM that was on your computer, it's probably files that were left over from the last time it was run. Please try running the other scans plus this one.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Rootkit

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Rootkit and save it to your desktop.

• Be sure to print out and follow the instructions provided on that same page for performing a scan.
  
• Caution: This is a beta version so also read the disclaimer and back up all your data before using.
  
• When the scan completes, click on the Cleanup button to remove any threats found and reboot the computer if prompted to do so.
  
• Perform another scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to verify that no threats remain. If they do, then click Cleanup once more and repeat the process.
  
• If there are problems with Internet access, Windows Update, Windows Firewall or other system issues, run the fixdamage tool located in the folder Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit was run from and reboot your computer.
  
• Two files (mbar-log-YYYY-MM-DD, system-log.txt) will be created and saved within that same folder.

Dave, I finally managed to get eset onto the infected machine. I started running a scan and got to about 44 % then actadentally unplugged the laptop and the battery went dead in the middle of the scan. So I started over. Now eset won't run. i get a message that says can not get update. Is proxy configured.. I'm trying to run it as administrator in safe mode, but I'm not sure how to get passed this message.
