Superdave had given me input on how he implicitly AdwCleaner. I went through Malwarebytes. No infected files were found. Then when I followed Superdave's instructions on downloading the Junkware Removal Tool from Cnet, I ignored the suspicious file warning and downloaded it anyway. That was probably my first mistake.
This morning I couldn't get internet access on my laptop. It might have shown the Google page but I couldn't input any further data or a corrupted Yahoo page would appear. I am now using my dinosaur PC clone which is so slow and has two stars and four Internet Explorer icons running along the top of this page! AT&T's coming to install Uverse tomorrow so they could give me feedback on the aforementioned then. I have DSL right now. Well, that's besides the point right now.
I used the System Restore in the the Start button on the laptop. That might have corrupted the operating system. Now the laptop won't power on. The Acer laptop's nearly 4 years old with Windows 7. Should I invest the $70 for a diagnostics or just buy a new laptop?
Thank you!
