photos from windows on flashdrive wont work in mac ??

I downloaded several hundred photos using windows vista,onto a flashdrive, and gave it to my girlfriend who has a mac. She cant open it,and says its just blank.. Is this right that windows isnt compatible with jpeg images loaded with windows?
