Hi, I have a very frustrating problem. I have 2 x 700 gig hard drives, while everything is rosy with the primary drive the secondary drive which is D in my case has 39 gigs data on board and 153 gig of shadow storage, when I do a property check on drive D it shows I only have 163 gig free. For the life of me I cannot work out why the missing 300 Gigabytes is not being allocated to me. The drive show a healthy status in Disk Management (Windows 10) window and shows that 700 gigabyte has been allocated. I have done troubleshooting to no avail. Status shows the drive to be ok, I feel this is software related and maybe this space has been allocated for a reason or a glitch I cannot find.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers Pete

If the thread starter comes back, with the problem still existing, I'm wondering Windows Disk Management snapshot of the partitions on the hard-drives might be useful.

Consider using a usb-powered external cooling fan assembly [one giant fan or twin fans] whenever the laptop is in use. Both of my laptops have such devices, and they run cooler, very warm sometimes, but never hot to the point of suddenly shutting down.

You can use WinDirStat program to find out disk space usage statistics and delete files that are taking up more storage space than you want.
