Hello all,

Hopefully someone will be able to assist me with this problem I've been having. The basic problem is that when I try to upload videos to Facebook, the estimated finishing time is unbelievable. There have been times where it said Infinity Time Remaining.

Here are the details,
First is the computer which has a modem. Then attached to the modem is a router. I have a laptop and my sister has a laptop. We also have 3 iPod Touches that are connected to the router.

Here is the router information:
Network Name: Belkin54g
Band: 802.11g
Operation mode: Network (infrastructure)
Authentication Level: WPA-Personal
Data Encryption: TKIP

My laptop always says that the connection speed is either 54 or 48 mbps, but when I go to upload a video, the max is always 15 kbps. Why is this? It makes uploading videos take forever.

I have an HD video which I want to upload. It's 2 minutes and 30 seconds and it's in 1080p. At my house, the approximate time is 12 and a half hours.

I took my laptop to school to see how long it would take and it said 1 hour 30 minutes...what gives???

If you need any other information, please let me know.

Hello...your upload speed is not good.

Run an Internet speed test and post the results...

Slow upload speeds 1424531582

This was right after I closed the upload. I tried leaving my laptop on all night hoping that the video would upload and after 12 hours it was 41% complete.

Stuff I have tried already: Restarting modem and router, restarting laptop, clearing cache and cookies, etc.

EDIT:

I did some research about what plan I had currently:

High Speed Internet
.5 to 1 Mbps
For light Internet use like browsing & shopping online and sending email & photos.

But now this leaves me confused...If the plan is only 1 Mbps max, why does my WiFi say speed is 54.0 Mbps?

54.0 MBPS is the transfer rate from the router to computers on the network...it has nothing to do with internet speed.

That only reveals the ability to transfer data from the router to the computers at a rate of 54 MBPS...does not have any implication on how fast your internet speed is.

Call your ISP and ask them why your internet speed is not closer to 1 MBPS. Tell them your speed is only .44 MBPS, (or 450 KBPS).

Well I just checked the plan again. It's verizon high speed internet and it says the speed can range from .5 to 1 Mbps. So .44 is pretty close, but it never actually gets to 1.

Could part of the reason be because there are so many connected devices at one time (a Wii, PS3, 2 laptops, 1 desktop computer, and 3 iPod Touches)?

Maybe.

Attempt to disconnect all but the main computer, and run SpeedTest again and post results, please.

Sure thing. I will do that today or tomorrow night and get back to you.

Sorry this is taking so long. The keyboard on my desktop broke. (what a convenient time for that to happen). I'll have a new one by Thursday apparently... Sad tearing

I don't see any other way to solve this problem since it very well is from the ISP end...

Alright. Thank you for your assistance. I will call them.

Run an Internet speed test and post the results...

There is a similar speed test site called ScanMySpeed.com It helps to check internet speed accurately.
My Speed test results are,
Download Speed: 18.89 Mbps
Upload Speed:0.795 Mbps.
