Hello everyone

I may have splashed a tiny bit of water on my keyboard (My hands were wet and I think a few droplets may have dripped off) but otherwise there was no water damage. I was using the laptop the other night and suddenly the T, Y, [, ], backspace, Num lock, and number pad 8 keys stopped working.

I tried doing steps for water damage though I doubted it was even that; I pulled the plastic keys off and checked underneath, it wasn't wet. Regardless, I disconnected all devices (i.e. mouse, my USB harddrive, etc), removed the AC power and the battery and left it upside down to "dry" for 24 hours.

I just turned it back on, and while the computer runs just fine, those keys are still not working.

What could have happened? Could a couple of droplets have done that much damage?! I've heard of people dropping their laptops in puddles and stuff and still having them survive.

Not sure what other info you need but its a Lenovo V570. i5 core, running Windows 7 (I think 64 bit? not sure), the computer is just over a year old. If you need any more info please ask, I can't think what else to add!!!

Thanks in advance.

Seems there was damage. I remember years ago I spilled something on mtpy keyboard. Thought I was doomed. Then realized everything was fine. That was in the morning. Later that day, my computer wouldn't even start. Seems something in the keyboard failed preventing my computer from starting.

I'd look for a replacement keyboard. Since it's a laptop, try an external keyboard.

My comp is working perfectly fine aside from those few keys, though, even more than a week later. I'm really hoping to find a solution that doesn't involve an external keyboard though, considering the whole reason I even have a laptop is for ease of use at work and on the go, etc. thanks for the reply though Smile...

Can anyone else add some insight at all? Any ideas on what it could be besides those few single droplets??
