When I Google search for anything on You Tube I get this message.

"Connection was reset while opening page." I've downloaded Flash Player 11, and enabled Java Script, still no go. This is something that has just started.

I think it may be a Google problem. If I click on a bookmarked You Tube it works, but if I type anything with the words You Tube into the search bar I get the error message.

I'm running Trend Titanium AV, and it shows no threats found. I'm also running an identical laptop right next to this one Toshiba Satelites Windows 7. It works fine.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi there!

Did you do ESET online?

descriptionCan't open You Tubes with Google EmptyRe: Can't open You Tubes with Google

more_horiz
Yes I did. I just ran ESET again after closing all other windows and it worked like a charm. Problem appears to be resolved. Should I uninstall these programs or leave them till the trial period ends. I'm wondering why my Trend didn't fix this. Maybe I need a better AV,

Thanks, Jay.

Hi there. It all appears to be good, so we will finish up to make sure your computer is protected from malware in the future.

Clean up System Restore

Now, to get you off to a clean start, we will be creating a new Restore Point, then clearing the old ones to make sure you do not get reinfected, in case you need to "restore back."
  • Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore.
  • On the dialogue box that appears select Create a Restore Point
  • Click NEXT
  • Enter a name e.g. Clean
  • Click CREATE

You now have a clean restore point, to get rid of the bad ones:
  • Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > Disk Cleanup.
  • In the Drop down box that appears select your main drive e.g. C
  • Click OK
  • The System will do some calculation and the display a dialogue box with TABS
  • Select the More Options Tab.
  • At the bottom will be a system restore box with a CLEANUP button click this
  • Accept the Warning and select OK again, the program will close and you are done

NOTE: If you already have this installed, you don't have to reinstall it.

Please download CCleaner Slim and save it to your Desktop - Alternate download link

When the file has been saved, go to your Desktop and double-click on ccsetupxxx_slim.exe

Jay: After opening system restore the dialogue box does not give me an option to create a restore point. The only thing clickable in the first box says "Is this process reversable?

There is also an option to remove ACDSee, which I've already done. Now that I think of it, that's probably where I got the bug in the first place, from the ACDSee trial offer that was bundled with a lot of stuff like Norton. I thought I got all tbat off with the uninstall, evidently not.

The next box has an option that says How do I chose a restore point?" and gives a list of FAQs.

The third box is titled Confirm Your Restore Point. It still mentions Uninstall ACDSee 15.

Sorry for that. I saw on your profile, it said you have Windows XP. But, I can see in your logs now, you're disinfecting a Windows 7 system.

Here are corrected instructions:

Clean up System Restore

Now, to get you off to a clean start, we will be creating a new Restore Point, then clearing the old ones to make sure you do not get reinfected, in case you need to "restore back."

To manually create a new Restore Point

  • Go to Control Panel and select System and Maintenance
  • Select System
  • On the left select Advance System Settings and accept the warning if you get one
  • Select System Protection Tab
  • Select Create at the bottom
  • Type in a name I.e. Clean
  • Select Create

Now we can purge the infected ones

  • Go back to the System and Maintenance page
  • Select Performance Information and Tools
  • On the left select Open Disk Cleanup
  • Select Files from all users and accept the warning if you get one
  • In the drop down box select your main drive I.e. C
  • For a few moments the system will make some calculations:
Can't open You Tubes with Google Diskcleanup1
  • Select the More Options tab
