My computer is a hand me down so I created a new administrator account for myself and deleted the previous one. I don't know if this has any bearing on my problem or not but when I try installing DivX software I get a notice that the application has failed to start because the side by side installation is configured incorrectly and also a message that says

missing divxmain DLL:
C:\Program Files\DivX\DivX Plus Player\DivX Plus Player.dll

I have uninstalled, redownloaded, and reinstalled several times to no avail. Any ideas?
