how to fix my lap top

my computer desktop is black and the only thing showing up is the recycle bin. I can not access my control panel or any other documents. a pop up called system check keeps popping up and saying i have errors on my hard disk. can you please help

I think your HD is toast. I just had a similar problem with black screen and it only displayed the movable mouse pointer.
