Hi there,


I tried updating my system to the current version of itunes (vers 10) so i can update my iphone 4. The itunes site directed me to remove previous versions of itunes, which i did, but on loading and installation the following error comes up:


Microsoft.VC80.CRT.type="win32".version="8.0.50727.4053".publicKeyToken="1fe8b3b 9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture="amd64". HRESULT: 0x80070308


I have no idea what is going on. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I haven't seen this personally, but I did a bit of searching and you're not alone. It's suggested that there's a problem with Windows permissions.

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up +en passant.+

Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. Do they fail to install? If so, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736B3s, or a different error code? If they're different, what codes are you getting in Windows Update?


Was a problem with a Microsoft service not running. Starting the process 'Windows Module Installer' worked for me.

The error indicates something wrong with the Visual C++ 2008 x64 Redistrubtable package. You may want to try and manually (re)install it.

nah i got the same problem when installing Visual C++ 2008 x64 Redistrubtable package, and bitdefender... The error code i continue to get is 80070308, even when i start windows update i have 22 important updates that fail to install... The other page recommends starting the process 'Windows Module Installer' but i have no idea where to find it?? any suggestions??

both those threads have been helpful, but theres something seriously wrong here... i have made some progress by disabling windows error reporting service it at least attempts to install the updates now ,but im still getting the error message code 80070308... im all out of ideas :sad:
