Wife's new computer just started acting up, as the cursor will not go where you want it to go. No matter where you try to move it, the only way you could move it was to hold the left button while dragging it across the screen, even then it was a challenge as you could not pull it below - half screen and when you released it, it would alway goes back to the very top of the screen.

To help narrow the problem, I just plugged in one of my mouses and now the cursor works as its susposed to. Unplugging it, it then goes back to the inop condition it was in before.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated,

DK

Sounds like the trackpad. Since this is a new computer, contact the manufacturer for warranty repair.

Before doing that, go to Control Panel > Mouse. See if there is a setting for tackpad sensitivity.
