speakers pop when computer is in sleep mode?

Does it do that when the volume control is muted?

i noticed it pops when I mute and then un mute the volume. but I will next try to see if it does it when in the sleep mode.

volume muted no popping sounds

The problem could be with your audio card or with the external speakers. Did you try another pair of speakers?
