Problems:
The keyboard on my laptop has suddenly started acting up. About half of these keys (mostly on the right side, but all areas are affected) stopped working or started working as other keys. Example: the right square bracket (]) prints an apostrophe. The actual apostrophe works as usual. Other keys don't work at all. As I was using my computer, more problems started appearing. The L key used to work, but now it doesn't. And now the ctrl key, tab key, and several others act as if I am continually pressing down the L key (the Ls only stop when I press a key that works, like K). I tried connecting a spare keyboard via the USB port, but the same problems occur when I press the keys on the connected keyboard.

Attempted solutions:
I restarted my computer twice. I have run my antivirus scan (AVG) and nothing turns up. I tried googling for similar problems, but didn't find much. I saw some people who said to try reinstalling the driver, but I'm not exactly sure how to do that. In the device manager, there are options to update (I just get a message saying my software is up to date). I downloaded the driver from Asus' website. Clicking the .exe file I downloaded currently does nothing. I'm afraid to uninstall the current driver without getting word from someone that it's safe.

Any advice on how I could fix this?

There is a possibility that that your ribbon cable is loose from your laptop. You might want to find a tutorial online on how to open your laptop if needed. Though i am not 100% sure as i'm not much of an laptop user myself, but its worth a try.

Have you tried to reset your keyboard by pressing the ctrl and shift key at the same time?
