Computer keeps rebooting, can't boot it in any kind of way

I have a serious problem with my computer.
Since 2 weeks my computer keeps rebooting at the Windows XP loading screen. When rebooting I can choose to start Windows normally, in safe mode, last known good configuration etc.
I picked 'start windows normally' and after rebooting exactly 5 times my computer worked properly. It went on like that for a whole week. I didn't want to do anything about it because I was going on a holiday that week.

So last Friday I returned from my holiday. I switched on my computer and it started without any problems, no rebooting. I thoughed the problem was solved.
The next day I switched on the computer, but this time it didn't stop rebooting. Everytime the Windows start up screen was shown, it rebooted. I couldn't start it in safe mode either. Using the last known good configuration didn't help either.
I tried using the Recovery Console, but it didn't boot as well. I got a blue screen saying 'unmountable_boot_volume'.
I also tried 'Load Fail-Safe Defaults', but it didn't help.
Then I wanted to boot from the Windows XP cd-rom, but there was a problem with my BIOS. When I tried to put the cd-rom drive 1st in the booting order and save the settings, it actually didn't save the settings.
I have tried everything I can, but nothing works.

I have a MSI K9N Neo V2 Motherboard. My computer is about 5 years old.

I hope you can help me with solving this problem, but I fear my computer is at his end.

This says something is wrong with your hard dirve.

Work on booting from the CD. You should be able to change the boot order in the BIOS. Make sure when you make the changes that you actually save the changes. The Setup screen will tell you which button to use to Exit and Save changes.

The other option is to use the temporary boot menu. There is usuall a button to press to get to that when you boot the computer. Try ESC or F10. If it's a Dell, the button is F12. When the boot menu comes up, choose the CD. Make sure the CD is in the drive before selecting this option.

Once booted to the Windows CD, try doing a chkdsk. See here for instructions.

The problem is that when I save changes in the BIOS, it simply doesn't. Everytime I change the boot sequence, the computer keeps booting from the hard drive. If I go to the BIOS again, the booting sequence is still the same, so it didn't save it.

I also tried using the temporary boot menu, but nothing happens when I press ESC, F10 or F12.

Interesting. Why make of computer is it?

When you're in the BIOS, how do you exit? Do you see the key to press to save the changes? What key is it.?

My computer is not of a particular brand. A cousin of mine builded this computer for me about 4 years ago.
I have a MSI K9N Neo V2 Motherboard.

When I'm in the BIOS and I change the booting sequence, my computer asks me to save changes and reboot. I press yes.
I also tried to change the booting sequence and then go back to the main menu of the BIOS. I then select 'save changes and exit'. The key I use? simply pressing enter.
But it never saves the booting sequence no matter what I try.
