Somehow I got some trojens on my computer and being a complete numpty about this stuff I had no idea what to do, thankfully my son-in-law came to the rescue.

I got VBS / gen , win32/ rootkit and win32 ramit g

He managed to remove my old antivirus (AVG) which had got infected and installed Avast which seemed to clean up the programs. After about 4 goes.

I have 3 programs which do not work:- Adobe, Sony phone and Samsung camera. We want to remove them to reinstall again, but cannot as each time we try a virus warning comes up and has to be put into the vault. I am running Windows XP home version

Adoby says that we cannot remove unless we shut down Internet Explorer, the other 2 says we do not have the authority to remove it.

Even when I do not open Windows Explorer my Email works, so I guess its on all the time. Not too certain if this always did this though.

Suggestions are unplug my internet connections and then try and remove them, if so should I do them one at a time.

Save my photos and letters etc to an exterior source and reboot the hard disc and reinstall everything.

Any ideas please.

John

I loaded the program on to my computer, I then dissabled my antivirus software Avast. I then got the following message when it started to run

Combofix cannot run when AVG is running

AVG was my old antivirus which was infected, whilst it is dissabled we cannot remove it, this message comes up cannot remove HTML layout.dll was not found. When we try and remove the program.

Can anyone suggest the next move please. Thanks in advance
