I have a:
Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook5,2
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.13 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MB52.0088.B05
SMC Version (system): 1.38f5
Sudden Motion Sensor:
State: Enabled

Everything works fine only thing is Safari won't load. I click on it, the icon bounces and the top bar on the screen says safari but no window shows up. Then I get this error:

"The application Safari quit unexpectedly.
Mac OS X and other applications are not affected.
Click Relaunch to launch the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple."

Hitting "relaunch" doesn't work. I downloaded Firefox using my other computer and installed it on here and it works just fine. From there I downloaded and ran "iantivirus" and it came back clean.

What can I do to fix this??

Like always, thanks for your help!
:smile2:

Hi,
Did you tried to Install new version of Safari from their website ? It might helps.

Yes I did and also did all the system updates....still not working.

It may be a preference file.

Go to System Preferences and create a new user account.

Once the account is created, try opening Safari. If it opens there, then you have a problem with your user specific Safari plist. Just delete the plist in your user account. It'll be in /library/Preference - look for com.apple.Safari.plist and delete it.

I did that and had to download safari, when i opened it it still did the same thing. I had already tried deleting the plist and when that didnt work i posted here.

That's unusual. Deleting the preference (plist file) shouldn't cause you to have to download Safari again.

Did you try creating a new user account and running Safari from there?

Found a couple of other things to try:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594
* 1. From the Finder's Go menu, again choose Go to Folder.
* 2. Go to this folder (type or paste the following):

* ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins

* (Leave this folder window open.)

* These two folders hold third-party plug-ins.
* 3.Move all third-party plug-ins from these two folders to a different, temporary location, such as a new folder on your desktop.

from https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1269173?start=0&tstart=0/
* Delete this file and retry Safari:

* /Users/YourUsername/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist

I had deleted the plist early yesterday and that did work, that's when I made the new post here. I then tried moving the folder and download a new one but didnt work either. I also have everything up to date.

Ill try the other stuff you posted...

Nope that didnt work either

If you created a new user account and did a fresh download of Safari and it's still not working, then it's probably something in the root library.

Maybe some system level preference?

The Mac does have an event log but I don't know how to read them.

I had this problem also. I found out that CosmoPod software i was using was the culprit in causing Safari to spin its tires loading but never fire. Hope that solves your problem!
