Laptop rebooting with blue screen errors14th April 2011, 5:08 pm

Hello just wondering if anyone could help me?

I have been getting blue screen errors that say driver_irql_not_less_or_equal. It started a couple of weeks ago but now its becoming more frequent, mostly 5-8 times a day and my laptop always reboots itself after the error. It now crashes whenever I try to watch videos online. I'm running windows vista on a dell inspiron 1525.

I'm now getting a blue screen error which says page_fault_in_nonpaged_area

Does anyone know what might be wrong with my laptop?

Hi there! Welcome to GP!

Seems like the dump files pointing to Avast. I would recommend to uninstall Avast and run the Removal Tool and clean up the left over files Avast Removal Tool then

Go to Start | Under search type in CMD and Right click on Run as administrator. Then type in SFC /SCANNOW

If that didn't work then

Run Hardware Diagnostic : Follow this article http://captaindbg.com/hardware-diagnostic/

I uninstalled Avast a few days ago and haven't had a blue screen error since then. I have downloaded AVG instead and all seems well. Thanks for your help.
