I guess the programmers of CCleaner feel the program is self explanatory. They haven't met up with me before, obviously! My problem is what to do with the list of items it recommends deleting. The narrative above the list states that nothing has been deleted yet. There is no further discussion on how to delete an item from the list. More importantly, it doesn't explain what happens when an item is highlighted or selected. Does highlighting or selecting an item tell the program to bypass this topic when the cleaning operation is commanded? Or is it the other way around? Also, how do you select more than one topic on the list to keep?

If I sound confused here..........I am! Is there something shown on the display that I am completely overlooking? Is there a Help feature hidden somewhere? Am I so dense I can't see the forest for the trees?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The ticked items on the left sidebar indicates which areas it will analyse. If you click analyse then it will check which potential files it can remove to save space. If you click Run Cleaner, this should delete the potential files and it will say how much space it has saved.

If you analyse first and do not want to delete from a certain area, you can un-tick the corresponding area from the left sidebar. There are two tabs above it, so check both to find the correct area.

At the bottom left hand corner there is an online help button. If neither the advise or the online help helps, post back here and I'll try to explain more clearly. Smile...

Many thanks to Safan and Dr. Inferno for your replies.

Geez, so simple. I feel like finding a hole to crawl into and pulling the cover over me! I am really embarrassed here. There is no need for further discussion. The explanation was very clear.

Next time I won't take any heavy duty pain medication for a condition which causes constant pain. It obviously adversely affected my ability to reason and think clearly.

Looks like I joined a great group of friendly experts. Thanks for allowing me into the ranks. Again, many thanks for your assistance. Here's wishing all of the members of this group a very Happy Holiday Season.

Best Regards,
