Hi. My .docx format file was previously associated with wordpad. I have recently installed Microsoft Office 2007 and I set .docx format files to open with Microsoft Word by default. Although the file now opens with Microsoft Word, the icon of the file does not change to that of Microsoft Word. I am also experiencing problems for other types of Microsoft Office files. Please advise me.

Hi,
Try go right click on .docx file and go to Properties. In Opens With line click on Change button, now choose Microsoft Word and click OK.
Try to restart your computer after that, and let me know if your icons work now.

If they don't, go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on View tab and click on Advanced Settings box > Display File Icons on Thumbnails have to be checked. Just uncheck, than click Apply > check it again and click Apply. After that, you can click on Default, your choice ;)

I solved this problem using a utility called filetypesman. I edited the default icon path for .docx files and that worked perfectly! Thank you for taking time to help me. Thank You!
